Abstract

This submission is a piece of art constructed from sugical masks that have been collected from the environment. It is the visual exploration of the hidden and unintentional impact of our intentions in trading off the prevention of an acute disease for a yet to be explored long term chronic heatlh problem. The impact of microplastic particles, that are now to be found globally in all our eco-system (and in your body) , on global health, and the costs that this might represent, is yet to be explored in a meaningful way. While billions of dollars changes hands in the production and distribution of personal protection items, there is little evidence available to suggest that these profits will be directed back to cleaner or most sustainable solutions.
